Mortals
The mortals are humans. They are not empowered or unrealisticly strong. They are human through and through. If you are a human, you are mostly confined to the City and towns, unless you know someone in one of the clans or covens. Know that humans are fair game to the immortals, although your character cannot be overly harmed without your permission.
Few humans know of the supernatural workings around them, and even they know what not to meddle with. They respect the boundaries set between the clans and covens and have no intentions of starting any wars with them. Other than this, I hope you all know how humans should act.
Ghosts
The ghosts are the souls of the dead trapped in this world. Whether from unfinished business or purgatory, or simply a denial of eternal rest, they walk among humans, whether they know it or not. They cannot be harmed, and they can harm none. They can frighten by knocking things over and opening and closing doors, but no more. They reside mostly on the mountain, therefore gaining its fame as being haunted. They can go wherever they wish, regardless of the rules and borders, unseen by human eyes. Although they do occasionally get the surprise of a human being able to see them. They are visible to the vampires, witches, warlocks and demons, and can be sensed by only the best of exorcists. They sometimes serve the vampires, holding them in high respect as the walking dead. They will not fight in the war, but they would not dare to miss it.
*NOTE: If your character is a ghost or spirit, you may choose to be a vampire servant or not. If your character is human and can see ghosts, you must say this in your sign up.
Gypsies
The gypsies are an ancient people, sometimes called the Romanies. They live for life and use their natural magics for the arts of healing, love, money, luck and happiness. The gypsies are skilled healers, artists and musicians. They dance and sing and hold ceremonies and gatherings. They are a true renaissance people who love who and what they are. There have been one or two who have fallen prey to the Church, but they are on well terms with the Aiakos witches clan. Not so much the Erinyes clan, so they stay away from them. They fear the vampires and werewolves and demons, telling tales to their children for why they should not stray at night. The Moirai is the ancient Gypsie clan that has been around since the ancient times. The most high of the Gypsies are here, living in their encampment in a large clearing in the center of the woods. There is an enormous bonfire in the center of the clearing that burns always. They dance around it at night and offer praise to their gods. There are some gypsies who will fight in the war, but there are also many who will not. They are a beautiful people, a true race of the earth.
Witches and Warlocks
The witches and warlocks are mortal, however their lives are prolonged and after the age of thirty they begin to age slower. There are two main witches' covens, the Aiakos Clan and the Erinyes Clan.
The oldest of witch clans, the Aiakos Clan practice their arts in Aiakos Castle, a large castle of stone situated far outside the borders of the towns. This clan is home to many priests and priestesses of the Craft as well as those who have recently discovered their gifts. Those of the Aiakos Clan are sworn to help, using their powers and magic for healing, growing, and balance. They feel they have no place in the Blood Clash. They do not want to be involved in a war, but they will help their brothers and sisters (fellow warlocks and witches) when the time comes and the Erinyes Clan calls for help. They will also help their close friends, the gypsies. Until then, they remain in Aiakos Castle, holding their ceremonies and dancing to the gods.
Then there is their sister clan, the Erinyes Clan. This clan of witches is much darker than that of the Aiakos. While not always evil, the witches of Erinyes practice the dark arts and are known for their many techniques with revenge and retribution. They dwell in the Erinyes Mansion, a large stone building just outside the borders of the City with many large windows and balconies. There is a ceremonial circle and fire pit on the roof for celebrations of the Craft. They have dealings with the vampires and demons, while keeping close watch on the Church's priests, who feel their art is wicked and evil. They are no enemy to the werewolves, although they have no dealings with them. Nearly all those of the Erinyes Clan are fighters and some long for the Blood Clash to erupt into a war so that they may spill blood. They are dark beings, the Erinyes witches, but there are a few who would not be so quick to draw a blade.
Demons
The demons are an old race, having said to have come to earth from the Underworld itself. The demons come in many forms and species, from fire to night, to dark, to vengeance. Some appear perfectly human, while others do not. The Sammael is a clan of demons. All demons are welcome and accepted. The Sammael occupy a cave the size of a mansion around the back side of the mountain where they may dwell in secret. Not all demons are killers, and there are many who are not evil at all, but they are still feared and still hunted. They shall fight for the vampires.
Werewolves
The werewolves were once mortal, too. They appear perfectly human, but they can take on the form of enormous wolves at will. They are not trapped by the moon's stages, although on full moons, there is no fighting it. The Cerberus Clan has thrived under the City for centuries, living in the sewers and tunnels. They are certainly a clan to be feared. They are named for the great three-headed dog of the underworld. They are not evil, although there are some who abuse their immortality and strength and kill at will and for pleasure, ripping throats needlessly. They are certain to fight in the war.
Werecats (for lack of a better name)
This species is clanless as it is very rare. Or thought to be at least. These are humans with the ability to take on the forms of different cats. There are werecats, wereleopards, weretigers, werepanthers, werelions, werelynxs... There are many different kinds, however your character can only turn into one and one alone. You can't change into two different kinds. Pick ONE.
Slayers
The slayers are there to hunt and kill the creatures of the night. This includes vampires, werewolves and demons. The Adriel Guild is an organization of Slayers that has been around since there were vampires, werewolves and demons. They hunt and kill creatures of the night, depending on their chosen path. They keep residence at Adriel Manor, just outside the towns on the far side where there are no woods. The Slayers are regarded highly by the Church, for they are seen as ridding the earth of its filth. They are highly respected and highly trained assasins against the immortals. They will fight on the front lines should the Blood Clash erupt.
Exorcists
The exorcists are there to banish ghosts and spirits from homes and other buildings such as churches. The Sarpedon are an old line of exorcists that people call to have their homes released from the grips of lost souls or vengeful spirits. They meet at an abandoned office building in the city where they have cleaned it up and opened it for quiet business. They do not approve of witches, the Erinyes more so, because the Aiakos are healers, but the Erinyes are known for their dealings with the dead. However, the exorcists do not interfere with their business. The exorcists will not fight in the war, as it is not their place. They will simply clean up after.
Priests
The Church has tried to ignore the immortals and prayed for their God to wipe them out entirely. But there are many who take action against it.
The Temeluch Brotherhood is, of course, a brotherhood of priests and monks and friars and the like that have sworn to protect against the immortals. They protect, they do not kill. They occupy Temeluch Abbey, which is located about half a mile out of the towns. The brothers' singing can sometimes be heard. They are coveted to protecting humans from what goes on outside their borders. They will not fight.
The Rhamiel Sect is a sect of the church that is sworn in the exterminating of the 'unnaturals.' They not only protect, they kill, slay and murder, all in the name of their God. They kill werewolves and demons, but their favourite prey are the vampires. They have also been known to kill a few witches of the Erinyes Clan for their dark ways. There have also been an unfortunate gypsie or two who have fallen at the wrath of the Church. The Rhamiel Sect keep refuge in Rhamiel Castle, a large dark castle at the foot of the mountain. Here they train for their deeds and pray for deliverance. The other members of the Church are in high disapproval of their ways, but they hold their tongues against them. For while they are men and women of God, they are still dangerous and feared greatly. Some of the Rhamiel Sect have studied fiercely in the dark arts, learning the ways of their prey so as to fight back at them with strong and unsuspecting force. The Rhamiel Sect is feared by all. They thirst for the day when the Blood Clash becomes an all out war.
Vampires
The vampires are the children of darkness. They are the undead, the immortal.
Here are the basic guidelines for vampires: 1. No sunlight. They will burst into flames and die, becoming ash. 2. Anything pierces their heart and they will die. 3. If their head gets lopped off, they are dead. 4. You do not have to be allergic to garlic, this is old folklore. 5. Crucifixes are harmless. 6. You do not have to sleep in a coffin, although if you prefer to, you may. 7. Predawn light or any indirect sunlight can make a vampire's skin ache. 8. Vampires may read minds, but they cannot if the person closes their mind to them, which isn't very difficult. 9. Vampires CANNOT drink DEAD blood. This means that they cannot drink the blood of something that is already dead. This is poison to them. They may, however, drink the blood of another vampire when absolutely neccesary. 10. To make a vampire: the vampire must drink the person's blood, then the person must drink the vampire's blood. This exchange is very important. There are no other ways to make a vampire. 11. Vampires cannot reproduce. Okay boys? You're shooting blanks. It ain't gonna happen. Vampires can have sex, but nothing will become the product of such a union. 12. Holy water BURNS. 13. Vampires may not enter churches or set foot on holy ground. This includes cemeteries, unless they are made by the undead themselves. 14. Vampires' wounds may heal within minutes, depending on the damage. If it is severe, perhaps an hour. If they break a bone, two hours at least. Break your neck? Three days. 15. Some vampires have the ability to shapeshift into wolves, bats or mist. This is up to you. 16. Vampires do not have souls.
The Abbadon Coven is one of the last remaining vampire covens. Incredibly powerful, Abbadon keeps their children trained and strong. Their refuge is Abbadon Castle, a crumbling but strong fortress set in the side of the mountain, created and built right from the mountain's stone. The castle had been burned and destroyed by the Church in ancient times, but it was rebuilt and resurrected by surviving vampires from around the world. It is here that the children of darkness are safe, for there is no force dumb enough to attempt to take Abbadon by force. They would have to be really, really dumb.
Vampires are dark creatures. They can be nice and kind, but they are still dark in nature. They prefer darker colours and vampires themselves, the older ones at least, carry with them an elegance of centuries past. They are the beautiful immortals of the night. They are strong enemies of the Church, so greatly in fact that it has become known as the Blood Clash, a fight that is feared will erupt into an all out war and decide the fate of humanity.
